Fluoroscent Collective
Making its debut appearance at the 2017 Borneo Jazz Festival, JennHwan Wong's self-directed 8-piece Fluoroscent Collective is an East meets West, Boston, Massachusetts-based instrumental world fusion band that features both students and graduates of Berklee College of Music from South East Asia, USA, and Europe. Formed in 2015, the band performs original compositions by its members and fusion covers influenced by jazz, world music, film score, blues, soul, prog, pop and funk. An ecclectic brew of cultures and personalities, the Fluoroscent Collective sets out to bring forward an environment that allows musicians to give and grow, backed by beautiful live arrangements and musical interplay.
jesse colin young band
For 50 years Jesse Colin Young has been singing songs about peace, relationships and the environment. From his folk days in Boston and his first record, Soul Of a City Boy, he has articulated and recorded the tumultuous times of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s to the present, while reminding us that it is all about family, community and the precious natural world we live in. His musical style is now considered Americana, but in fact it's his unique fusion of jazz, blues, folk and rock with an emphasis on his extraordinary voice that makes his signature sound.
Aleif Hamdan Group
Aleif Hamdan is a guitarist/composer from Indonesia and Malaysia. He had worked with and been hired by major-label award-winning artists such as A.R. Rahman, Jesse Colin Young, Gino Banks, Raghu Dixit and Dee Dee Bridgewater. After graduating from Berklee with Summa Cum Laude, Aleif has worked his way to becoming an in-demand session player; performing and arranging on a wide variety of projects with globally renowned artists from the United States, India, Japan, and several other countries.
Trandcention
Trandcention is a collaborative project based out of the Northeastern U.S. Founded by Julian Lenz (cellist/producer), it brings together talented artists, producers & engineers from across the world. By combining modern synths with traditional instruments, they achieve a sound that appeals to a wide range of listeners. Their shows are highly theatrical, featuring an innovative lighting system, heavy bass-lines and captivating solo performances.
The members met at the Berklee College of Music, where they all graduated. With each artist coming from a different background and culture, they have been able to fuse their ideas together to create an inimitable sonic experience. Their songs typically employ ideas from jazz, Carnatic (south Indian), classical-romantic, electronic dance music, progressive rock and various folk sub-genres.
the wolff sisters & the last cavalry
Hailing from the cobble stone streets of Boston, The Wolff Sisters blend rock, blues, and roots music into their own unique sound. Their gritty songs draw from adventures all over New England that shaped their lives. The three sisters, Rebecca, Rachael, and Kat, create haunting harmonies that only siblings can manage to do. Together with The Last Cavalry, a solid full rhythm section featuring JennHwan Wong (Keys), Jacob Jones (Bass), and Michael Gluszak (Drumset), the now 6-piece band creates swirling warm grooves and beautiful voice arrangements. It’s not quite folk rock, its not quite “the blues”, but a cultivation of dynamic and musical aesthetics that they can uniquely call their own.
No Hugs
No Hugs is an alternative rock band from Boston, MA formed by Narcissus A-Ngel. The band has been appraised for its high energy sets and exuberant performance skills as well as the virtuosity and unique musicianship of all of its band members. Their sound can be compared to the eccentric energy of The Mars Volta, Muse, and Queen.
